I'm a diabetic, can I bring snacks and medicine? Yes. Your jury duty obligation can be postponed (deferred) one or two times for up to one year each time. In federal court (district of Massachusetts), most people can't even bring cell phones or electronics into the building. The request must be completed two weeks in advance of your reporting date. There are only about a fifteen of us total in the room (this makes me nervous; maybe there is no selection and we're actually going to sit on a jury????). You cannot use them in the courtroom (I've seen a judge take a cell phone) and the Court Officers will take them from you if you are on a jury when you deliberate so you can't get outside information.
